Equality and Diversity

 

 

Aim

A training session to widen participants’ knowledge and understanding of organisational structures, values and practices around equality and diversity. To gain an understanding of legislation & policy that supports and upholds anti-discriminatory practice, good practice and celebrates diversity.

 

Target Group

This training is designed to be delivered to all staff working in health and social care settings.

Learning Outcomes

By the end of this course participants will be able to:

  • Identify the legal implications and relevant statutes linked to equality and diversity
  • Recognise attitudes and beliefs and identify their own values
  • Describe company policy and procedure linked to equality & diversity
  • Define the terms equality, diversity and discrimination
  • Identify ways in which their department, organisation & team can provide services that will encourage and promote diversity and challenge discrimination

 

Training Methods

The day will be run in a participative way, using delegates’ existing knowledge as a platform. Training methods will include paired work, small group work, quizzes, case studies, and a limited amount of lecturing. Exercises and activities will be designed to meet the varied learning needs of the participants.
