to raise awareness of participants’ responsibilities for health and safety at work and increase understanding of the key concepts of fire awareness.

Learning
Outcomes
By the end of this training session participants should be able to:
- Identify their responsibilities in relation to health and safety legislation
- Describe the duties of the employer and employee
- Explain the meaning of COSHH
- Describe how to maintain a safe and secure working environment
- Identify terms used in risk assessing and recognise the five steps to risk assessing
- Identify responsibilities in terms of the provision and use of equipment
- Describe current fire legislation
- Describe the process for recording of accidents and incidents and recognise when to notify under RIDDOR
Training Methods
The day will be run in a participative way, using delegates’ existing
knowledge as a platform. Training methods will include paired work, small group work, quizzes, case studies, and a limited amount of lecturing.
