Professional Boundaries, Good Practice & Dignity in Care

 

Aim

A training session to get participants thinking about the importance of maintaining professional boundaries and to idenify good practice and dignity principles within their work role.

 

Target Group

This training is designed to be delivered to all staff working in health and social care settings.

Learning Outcomes

By the end of the course participants will be able to:

  • Identify the current agenda for the provision of quality care services including the Code of Conduct for Adult Social Care Workers and principles of duty of care
  • Define the term professional boundaries and identify good and poor practices
  • Describe SCIE’s Dignity in Care guidelines and the Dignity Challenge
  • Identify boundaries between personal and professional relationships
  • Identify limits of confidentiality and self disclosure
  • Describe what to do if you witness or suspect that unprofessional practice is occurring

 

You are encouraged to raise any issues of your own that are currently, or have been in the past, causing you difficulty.

 

Training Methods

The day will be run in a participative way, using delegates’ existing knowledge as a platform. Training methods will include paired work, small group work, quizzes, case studies, and a limited amount of lecturing.

Exercises and activities will be designed to meet the varied learning needs of the participants.
