Record Keeping & Record Writing

 

Aim

A one day training session to increase understanding and awareness of the importance of report writing and accurate record keeping in care work.

 

Target Group

All staff working in health and social care.

Learning Outcomes

By the end of this training session participants will be able to:

  • Explain the importance and purpose of keeping records in written form
  • Give examples of the different types of records used at work
  • Demonstrate some tools to help you get started when writing reports
  • Identify legal obligations of Data Protection
  • Demonstrate an ability to differentiate between fact, assessment and opinion
  • Describe behaviour accurately avoiding the use of misleading jargon
  • Idenify agency standards for record keeping
  • Explain the relationship between record keeping and confidentiality 

 

Training Methods

The day will be run in a participative way, using delegates’ existing knowledge as a platform. Training methods will include paired work, small group work, quizzes, case studies, and a limited amount of lecturing.

 

Exercises and activities will be designed to meet the varied learning needs of the participants.
