Assessing & Managing Risk 

 

Aim

A training session, which provides staff with training in the assessment and management of risk as appropriate to their work.

 

Target Group

All staff who work in health and social care.

Learning Outcomes

At the end of this course delegates will be able to:

  • Describe legal obligations, guidance and policy and procedure around risk and how this links to our duty of care
  • Define terminology used in risk assessing and risk management
  • Identify different areas of risk
  • Identify reasons for taking and reducing risk and the importance of positive risk taking
  • Demonstrate how to complete risk assessments

 

Training Methods

The day will be run in a participative way, using delegates’ existing knowledge as a platform. Training methods will include paired work, small group work, quizzes, case studies, and a limited amount of lecturing.

 

Exercises and activities will be designed to meet the varied learning needs of the participants.
