Supervision Skills

Aim

A training session to enable participants to gain the fundamental skills which are necessary in providing excellent supervision to their staff.

 

Target group

This course is relevant for everyone who takes part in the supervision process.

 

Learning Outcomes

By the end of this course participants will be able to:

  • Define the term supervision
  • Identify good & poor practice in supervision
  • Recognise the benefits of good supervision
  • Describe the key elements of supervision and identify how to structure a session including: supervision agreements, note taking and confidentiality
  • Identify how supervision links to appraisals, business objectives and organisational aims

 

Training Methods

The day will be run in a participative way, using delegates'existing knowledge as a platform. Training methods will include paired work, small group work, and a limited amount of lecturing.

 

Exercises and activities will be designed to meet the varied learning needs of the participants.
